Brad Edwards - Board Member

 

Brad is a 29-year veteran broadcaster and Music Director who has worked in various commercial radio formats, including Country, AC, Hot AC, Alternative, and Rock (Standard, CHUM, NewCap).  He launched KOOL FM in Victoria in the winter of 2004 and The Wolf in Nanaimo in 2001, and he has held programming and on-air responsibilities with CISL Vancouver, CKRA Edmonton, and CKOM Saskatoon. 

In his current position as station manager for CKMO Radio, Brad assists in the training and development of the broadcasters of tomorrow via Camosuns' Applied Communication Program. Brad has been exposed to many artists and bands of all styles and productions in their developmental years, including Ron Sexsmith, Armchair Cynics and Alison Crowe.  

Brad received his early training through the Columbia Academy of Radio Television and Recording Arts.

 

When he is not playing with music and programming radio, He takes photographs. Lots of them. He spends most of his free time exploring the beautiful city of Victoria, and capturing images that will last a life time.

 

Troy Samson - Board Member

 

Troy Samson is a songwriter producer based in Vancouver, BC. He is published with Nettwerk One Music, is a co founder of Hipjoint Music Group, and the owner of Madlucky Music. 

 

Troy has written and produced for Kelly Rowland, Victoria Duffield, Cody Simpson, Stef Lang, Hedley, Kreesha Turner, Shiloh, Dawn Langstroth, Craig Smart, Mika Nakashima, Delerium, Sarah Connor, Haddaway, The Underdog Project, Moka Only, Snoop Dogg & Pam Grier (in The L Word series), soulDecision, West End Girls, CK One, Nikon, NFL, Hipjoint Music Group, Booya Music, Warner Chappell Music, Dexter Entertainment, and many more.

 

From 2002 to 2011, Troy was Co Owner and Head of Productions at “Hipjoint Music Group” which he founded with former songwriting and producer partner Mike James. After a very successful nine years, the Vancouver based duo decided to pursue new solo ventures and explore other musical collaborations.

 

In early 2012, Troy signed a new publishing deal with Nettwerk One and launched his solo production company, Madlucky Music, where he continues to have much success writing and producing with great artists, writers, collaborators and producers all around the world.

 

In his spare time, Troy also teaches songwriting lessons, both privately and through workshops for young writers and artists who share his passion for creating music and song.  

 

Raphael da Silva - Board Member

 

Raphael has spent the majority of his career creating and growing new companies and brands.  A marketer by profession and passion, Raphael spent over 14 years with Unilever, rising to the position of Brand Director in the Africa and Middle East Region.  Since then, he has been involved with equity financing of companies in Africa, Eastern Europe and South America.  He currently sits on the board of several companies across a variety of business sectors, including sanitation, manufacturing and real estate. A Canadian, Raphael maintains bases in Nigeria, South Africa and India. 

 

In his spare time, he is working hard to achieve his lifetime goal of visiting every country in the world.  He also tries as much as possible to enjoy the wonderful summers and barbeques at the family cottage outside of Ottawa!

 

Danny Mock - Board Member

 

Danny has been at the forefront of fashion and design for clothing and accessories in the Netherlands. After spending 5 years at Trend Fashion B.V., based in the World Fashion Center in Amsterdam, he co-founded Chick on a Mission, an accessories company which grew into a 125 staff operation with a factory in Indonesia. The highly fashionable bags and belts they produced were shown in numerous fashion magazines. One of their fine bags even ended up in a Destiny'’s Child member’'s wardrobe. After exiting the partnership, he co-founded Moby Stone Design, which uses a unique way of manufacturing indoor and outdoor designer pottery. Danny holds a BBA from Webster University in Leiden. 

 

In his free time he loves taking his dog out for long walks in the Dutch dunes. 

 

Alex Bruce – Board Member

 

Alex has spent his entire 20 year working career in Japan and Asia.  He spent 17 years working with Bloomberg LP; joining them when they were a small unknown firm with a handful of staff in Japan and Asia.  Alex worked with the rest of the Bloomberg team helping to grow the business into a successful multi-national company, rising to the position of Managing Director Asia-Pacific. Alex then worked for the global investment management firm BlackRock Inc., as Managing Director of their BlackRock Solutions Asia-Pacific business. Alex now manages his own private investment firm based in Singapore -Kayak Pte. Ltd. - which invests in small businesses in the three places that he likes to spend time with his wife and four boys; Japan, Singapore and Scotland. Alex does not plan to retire.  He invests his time, as well as money, in these businesses to help them prosper and keep him busy for many years to come.
